Event

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge, honour and give thanks that we are able to host Yukon Fat Tire Fever on the traditional territory of the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation.

How It Works

Yukon Fat Tire Fever is a new-style of cross-country marathon mountain bike event that's focused on fun!

Instead of timing riders from start to finish, we time just a few surprise segments — uphills and downhills. You won't know where they are until the day of the event.

Registration Cost

  • Males (17 and older): $65
  • Everyone else: $45

You also need a 2026 Cycling Association of Yukon (CAY) annual membership or single event licence to participate.

Registration closes on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 5 pm

Start & Finish Location

Yukon Fat Tire Fever takes place on the Mt. McIntyre and Haeckel Hill trails — mostly blue with some black (everything has ride-arounds). Meet at the Mt. Mac Ski Stadium adjacent to the Canada Games Centre.

Day-of Schedule

  • 9 am Good morning! Pick up your race plate and timing sensor at check-in
  • 9:40 am Mandatory riders meeting
  • 10 am Solo and first-section team riders start
  • 4 pm Awards ceremony at the ski stadium
  • 5 pm Course closes

The 2026 Route

The total route is about 50 km in total. The halfway (transfer) point is at the Copperbelt Railway and Mining Museum, where an aid station will be loaded with snacks and beverages. If you're on a two-person team, the second rider waits here.

Solo category

Participants in the solo category ride one full lap of the route by themselves. You must complete a full lap to receive a result.

Two-Person Team category

As a two-person team, each rider completes half of the route — only one rider is on the course at a time. You complete the route as a relay, not together.

You cannot start the next half of the course until your teammate has finished their section. At the designated transfer point, high five each other and send your partner off!

Each rider will have at least one timed uphill and one timed downhill section in their half. When you check in on race morning, let us know which rider is taking which half.

Timing Sensors

Each rider receives their own timing sensor to carry from start to finish.

Don't lose your timing sensor! If you finish without it, you will be disqualified and charged a $500 lost sensor fee.

Bike Choice

  • Solo riders must use the same bike from start to finish. Teams can share a bike if needed.
  • No switching or modifying of parts during the event to optimize uphill or downhill performance.
  • Choose wisely — a bike that climbs efficiently, descends with precision, and handles a high-speed beat-down will be ideal.
  • Class 1 e-bikes are allowed. Read the City of Whitehorse by-law.
